Most of the Digital camera user who just started photography might confuse themselves with all those fuzzy manual setting they have to play around compare to just Point n Shoot Full Auto mode they used to. How to set aperture?ISO?shutter?theme and all those photography term might drive them crazy.
Is there some easy to learn technique that will improve your photography? Yes there is some Golden rule you can use to make your photo WOW !!!
Texture & Pattern
The nature around us actually is full of all those amazing geometry texture and pattern. Tree, leaf, stone, staircase, word and even spider net is one of the best theme in your photography. Putting your subject next to a symmetric or asymmetric geometry object will make the photo more stand out. etc: When going travel, taking a picture of zebra crossing or the electric wire make a good starting point.
Color Contrast
A huge color different will make the object extremely stand out. You can further editing the original photo with photo software (Photoshop/Live Photo Gallery) to increase the contrast more.
The huge color contrast will bring out the theme and subject clearly and it will bring more impact on the viewer
If you able to spot a interest building with pretty stand out with its color, snap a few shot, spread some color in you shot.
Different Angle
Try to look at the world from a totally different angel. Imagine how a cat will look at the world, put yourself down and try take a few snapshot from the unusual Point of View (POV). You will get a refreshing shoot ^_^
Time Flow
Imagine you in the world where time slow down at the moment you take a shoot. Make use of light trail and flowing water to creating stunning shot.
Bring out the tripod, lower down your shutter speed (1~3 sec will be good starting point) and point the camera to the busy traffic or blizzard city light.
Golden Ratio
The Golden ratio, or the 3×3 grid rule mean to position your subject in the crossover grid point like this:
This will make the photo look more harmony and will attract the viewer attention to the subject itself.
Other Technique
My favorite technique will be buy a postcard when traveling and take a photo like this:

I will sometime bring a lot a personal item and try to blend the item into the photo shot with the nature surrounding.
Summary
I believe that if you practice the few tips above and understand the concept behind it, you will definitely see improvement in your photography skill.
Remember, photography is a personal thing, keep trying and never give up, one day you will able to take a shot that will amaze everyone ^_^
